According to the US Geological Survey, the epicentre of the earthquake is located 114 kilometers northwest of Ilam, close to the Iranian-Iraqi border, with a focal depth of 65 kilometers. This strong earthquake can be felt in the Iraqi capitals of Baghdad and Kuwait.

It is reported that at least 7 provinces in Iran can feel the strong earthquake, of which Kermanshah is the most serious. The Governor of Kermansha Province, Houshang Bazvand, said: “We currently know that 411 people have been injured, 80% of whom have returned home after treatment …… no one is killed. ”
